Hare Today, Gone Tomorrow

Or at least, November 2nd

Been meaning to comment on this for quite some time, and finally found the time.  I commented back in March about His Phatness’ support for the “Disaster Relief and Summer Jobs Act.”

Followed up on it, and I see that it phinally passed and was signed into law as part of the Supplemental Appropriations Act, on July 29, 2010.  Imagine that, a Summer Jobs Act passed a few weeks before school starts.  Oh well.

Anyway, the portion I meant to comment phurther on is the portion that appropriates $174,000 of our hard-earned (and confiscated) money to the widow of the late Representative Jack Murtha.

The Act reads:

Payment to Widows and Heirs of Deceased Members of Congress

For a payment to Joyce Murtha, widow of John P. Murtha, late a Representative from Pennsylvania, $174,000…

You remember Jack Murtha, don’t you?  Nicknamed “The King of Pork,”Murtha was the idiot Democrat who slandered our troops engaged in winning the War in Iraq.  His accusations eventually proved false.  Well, he died on February 8, 2010, and the very next month Phil Hare and his buddies voted to hand almost 200 grand to Murtha’s widow.  Mind you, none of them gave any of their OWN money, they just took yours and handed it to her.

Imagine the complete arrogance!  Giving — literally giving!! — almost two hundred thousand tax dollars to the widow of one of their former colleagues!  This is a crime!!!  What gives Congress the right to GIVE our tax money to another citizen?  Some one should be held accountable, in fact many someones should be held accountable.

Will anyone even ask His Phatness about it?  Or where he gets the right to literally give our money away?  I won’t hold my breath.

PS – For a way-back story of a similar nature, check out this feature about Davy Crockett.  It makes the point that the tax dollars appropriated from citizens are Not Yours to Give, Phil!  I don’t think it is absolutely true, but a vote did occur in the House at that time on that subject.  In any event, the principle stands — His Phatness has no right to take OUR money and give it to the widow of his former colleague.

This was supposed to be the Recovery Summer.  But the only recovery we’re gonna see is when we throw His Phatness and his idiot Democrat buddies out of office.

Back in March, I published a post showing that the so-called “stimulus” bill was nothing but the World’s Biggest Boondoggle.

Since it’s been a few months, I thought an update was in order.  Visiting Recovery.gov this morning, I gathered the following statistics (just put your cursor over Illinois):

From February 17, 2009 to June 30, 2010, Illinois was awarded $8,445, 690,000 and received $4,454,880,000 from the stimulus.  The number of recipient reported jobs stemming from this money was 21,629.

Do the math:

$4,454,880,000 divided by 21,629 = $205,967.91 per job.

Pretty sure I could “create or save” a job for two hundred grand.  What a joke.  And that is based on money actually received.  If you use the money that has been awarded (presumably one could create a job based on money awarded), the figure rises to $390,479.91 per job.

The inefficiency of government is mind-boggling.

And yet, President Obama’s solution to the failed stimulus?  More stimulus, of course!  Has anyone asked His Phatness what he thinks of the latest “flush your money down the union rathole” program?  I’m sure he loves it.

Better feed at the public trough while you can phat boy.  You are going down on November 2nd.

No wonder His Phatness doesn’t want to appear anywhere near Quincy for a debate – check out this billboard on Broadway (the main thoroughfare) in Quincy.  (We saw it yesterday when visiting for Labor Day.)

Nice.

We also noted probably 100 Bobby Schilling yard signs, and in several days, I only saw one sign for Phil Hare.  Anecdotal, but illustrative of what people think of the incumbent, His Phatness.

His Phatness is screwed, and royally.  Remember back in April when a videographer was telling Hare “You better start looking for a job“?  (at 2:45 of the linked video)  I wonder if he has, because Hare is going to lose this election, and he has NO skills that transfer to the private sector.

Think about it – His Phatness served as a Union President (doing nothing), a legislative aide (doing nothing) and Congressman (doing nothing) for the last several decades.  Really, what is he going to do when he loses on November 2nd?  It’s pretty phunny, but he won’t be able to find a job in the economy he helped create.  I even question whether his old goofball union will be willing to take him back, he has no clout.

Many of the democrats who will lose on November 2nd will take jobs as lobbyists, policy wonks, etc., but Hare’s too stupid for anybody to actually invest in that way.  Someone should ask Hare, in all seriousness, what is he going to do if he loses on November 2nd.

In the meantime, Hare is busy laying the groundwork to avoid any debates, if possible, and if not, to ensure that they occur on his terms alone (i.e., in front of his handpicked Dumocrat buddies on public television).  Asked yesterday about the debates with Schilling, here was Hare’s response:

Hare said Monday he’d give Schilling two weeks to come to terms.

“He’s got two weeks to make up his mind,” Hare said. “If he doesn’t like it, I’ll see you on Nov. 2, Bobby.”

It’s understandable Hare does not want to debate, just look at his pathetic performance trying to answer simple questions from regular citizens back in April.  Any debates this clown engages in are going to be complete meltdowns.

Back in April, Hare called abortion “a mortal sin” but averred that it was his “job” to legislate it.  Now, in another contradiction, Hare states that “protecting the health and safety” of an “unborn child” is of “utmost importance.”  Unless that is, the unborn child’s mother wishes to kill it.  Here’s the entire statement:

Protecting and promoting the health and safety of a woman and her unborn child is of utmost importance to me. I also believe a woman should have the right to consult with her physician and make the choice that she feels is right in relation to her pregnancy.

I guess Hare’s rule of thumb is: if the mother wants it, it’s an unborn child, and it’s “of utmost importance” to protect its health; but if the mother doesn’t want it, it’s a pregnancy, subject to “choice,” and it’s Hare’s job to promote a woman’s right to kill it.

It’s obviously not a question of “viability,” or anything like that, as Hare  answered “no” to the question “Should abortion be legal only within the first trimester of pregnancy?”

Hare also thinks that we as taxpayers have a different job to do, even if it conflicts with our belief that abortion is a mortal sin.  Hare answered “no” to the question “Should federal subsidies be prohibited from being used for abortion procedures?”

Thus, Hare thinks it’s his job to legislate a mortal sin, and it’s our job to pay for it.  I wonder if anyone will ever ask him to explain this….

Hare is phamous for his deep thoughts, and so comes up with this little gem:

If we are to address the issue at the heart of the debate, reducing the number of abortions, we must increase comprehensive sex education and increase access to safe, affordable contraceptives.

Why is “reducing the number of abortions” at the heart of the debate?   Why would a self-proclaimed pro-choicer want to reduce the number of abortions? Isn’t the real issue at the heart of the debate whether the “unborn child” (your own words) a person entitled to the protection of the Constitution, or simply a “pregnancy” or fetus, that can be “terminated” at will?  This guy is so phony….  According to Hare, abortion is a mortal sin, but he lists himself as pro-choice.  Good grief.

Check out this point made by RedState’s Erick Erickson at John King USA:

Rep. Phil Hare (D-IL) is a backbench Democrat who should be safe, but is imploding in Illinois, now filing an FEC complaint against a veterans group. If Phil Hare is not safe, there are many Democrats in “leans Democrat” districts who will disappear after November. Just how big is this swing going to be?

So James L. Moody, the Chairman of the Sangamon County Democratic Party, has filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Committee, sniveling about the fact that Veterans For the Constitution don’t support his buddy, His Phatness.

In footnote 9 of the complaint, Mr. Moody cites this post from QC Examiner.  Proof that, to the extent they can read, Hare’s supporters are following QCExaminer’s yeoman’s work!!  Congrats!!!

As evidenced by this petty filing of the FEC complaint, methinks His Phatness is getting worried…  Every day, it’s looking more and more like we’re gonna have a Bald Congress!

Just over a month ago, Maggie Depoorter laughed off a poll showing Bobby Schilling leading His Phatness by 13 points by saying

a 13-point lead doesn’t even pass the laugh test. The fact that this partisan poll was released just as the independent Gallup organization shows Democratic candidates for Congress ahead by six points nationwide makes it even more ridiculous.

Well, I wonder what Ms. Depoorter will say now, when the same independent organization finds its largest lead ever for Republicans?  As stated by Gallup:

Republicans lead by 51% to 41% among registered voters in Gallup weekly tracking of 2010 congressional voting preferences. The 10-percentage-point lead is the GOP’s largest so far this year and is its largest in Gallup’s history of tracking the midterm generic ballot for Congress.

In addition, the same independent organization finds that:

Republicans are now twice as likely as Democrats to be “very” enthusiastic about voting, and now hold — by one point — the largest such advantage of the year.

Not so ridiculous any more, is it Ms. Depoorter?  I would not be surprised to see Schilling beat Hare by 13 points.

Listen to the first :15 seconds of this video, (the second one) – a nice flashback to Quincy.

Phil Hare – “There’s some people that want to repeal this bill [health care]…  And I would tell them, first of all – that ain’t gonna happen.

At 6:47-  Phil Hare, on abortion:

As a Catholic, I believe – as a Catholic – that I believe abortion is a mortal sin…  but as a legislator, I’ve got a different job to do.

Think of that – this guy thinks his “job” as a legislator is to legislate a “mortal sin.”  Nice.

Then, immediately after – and remember, Hare is speaking at the town hall about the government mandated requirement to purchase insurance — and he says:  ”I don’t think, I don’t think I have the right, I don’t think Congress or anybody has the right to tell people what to do…”  Wow.

From The Hill:

Much like the surprising loss of Rep. Sue Kelly (R-N.Y.) in 2006, a district like Hare’s could be the tipping point between solid Republican gains in 2010 and a crushing GOP wave that wipes out the Democratic majority.

Hare is going down, brother.  Can’t you just feel it?
